Production of Codeine banned Nationwide: Aisha Buhari talks

The recent developments of Emzor Pharmaceutical relieving its CEO in Nigeria of his job following a BBC broadcast about the excessive and illegal consumption of the codeine drug by large number of the growing youth population. 

Emzor Pharmaceutical also banned the production of the drug as it has constituted to nothing but menace to health and growth.

Aisha Buhari, the first lady applauded the move by Emzor, NAFDAC and other drug abuse monitoring agencies, she said:

Gradually and collectively we will put an end to the menace of drug abuse in Nigeria, lets save the lives of our youths and that of the next generation.

” I have noted with alarm the exponential rise of drug abuse in our country, especially in the North.

” As a parent, I am deeply saddened by this fact, it is important that we interrupt the trend and encourage our children to stay drug-free.”

Most University students and teeming youth population can have a break from this misused drug for some times.
