Donald Trump says Nigerians need no apology!
President of US, Donald Trump met his Nigerian counterpart, Mohammed Buhari over issues bothering on insurgency, fight against corruption, military coalitions and most especially trade.
The visit was marked with various pleasantries shared between both leaders. Donald Trump in his speech congratulated Nigeria for its hard work concerning the fight against corruption and ISIS terrorism. He depraved the actions of Boko Haram and its terrorist activities especially for the abduction of young girls in the country. Trump also said that the US had sold high grade choppers to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorist group effectively. He mentioned US is now open to trade talks with Nigeria for investments and development of the country.
President Buhari who was the first Sub-Saharan leader to visit the US appreciated Donald Trump and rated him highly concerning his impact on bringing peace and stability to the Korean Peninsula. He also thanked him for the choppers and other military aids given by the US recently. He affirmed Nigeria's support for the US in policing the world.
Donald Trump was asked if he would apologize to the Nigerians concerning the vulgar statements he made in his campaign talks. He maintained his stand and said apologizing does not change the fact that he said the truth of the matter. He said apology was not necessary.
When Buhari was asked if he heard the vulgar statements Donald Trump earlier made about his country. He answered by saying:
I was not sure the press statements were genuine and directly from the president, so I kept quiet.
We can only hope the talks will positively affect Nigerians at home and in Diaspora.
